From Maurice Pialat's Le Garçu, his final film, which I saw Friday night at BAM with a number of Brooklyn film nerds before watching the Rockets break down. This shot is, as Dave put it, really cinematic on top of, as we boys may put it, really sexy. And that turn on is really cool, too. I may write something more coherent about its more safe-for-work qualities later. But it's late now and I should pass out. Got plenty to do tomorrow. --RWK

Marketing #56: Where the price is the brand is (on) your body
Or, where sex is recession proof. I'm sure you've seen this already, but, well, I think the ad work for this film is great. Of course I'm gonna see it. Not only does the whole pornstar crossover thing appeal to me (duh), I want to see what Manohla called, in its Sundance rough cut, a Godardian take on commidification or some crap. I also want to see Glenn. --RWK

Effective Marketing #55: Anti
Lars Von Trier is a weirdo. I have never been set on where I stand with him. At certain points in my past I thought he was some kind of genius. Then I hated him. Hard. Now somebody I love thinks he's kinda great, and thinks Dogville in particular is defo great. Dogville was the last movie of his that I saw, and it made me mad. Not quite sure whether I'll see this one, either, but it's an effective trailer nonetheless. Just seems like another exercise, a point to prove, rather than a "real film." But what do I know? I've only seen the trailer... --RWK

Genius Marketing #52: Gangster violence and some language.
As said over here: Wherein the fan side of things gets tickled into action. Thank you, Michael Mann. (And the ad people at Universal.) Why? The teaser trailer for his summer tentpole, Public Enemies, is now available for viewing. After last night's waste, I'm happy to be excited about Ho'wood product because I can trust that, unlike that bloated advertisement masquerading as a "movie," this feature will only get better the longer it lingers on screen. Also, it will be gorgeous without a ton of digital paint. It will weigh something, too, I imagine, despite its speed. --RWK

Genius Marketing #50: Gallo in a Coppola (not sexual)
FFC has a new movie and that new movie has a new website. CLICK HERE! to see a vlog by FFC himself in his Napa Valley home rapping about the project in a few too-close close-ups and dropping bombs like "Gallo's mad brilliant, son." Or something. I wanna see this thing. It's also got that lady who played sex with Gael and Diego in that Alfonso Cuaron movie. --RWK

Two Lovers: A Dark Tail
with a Song to make you shake it

Watched this last night on the ol' Megavideo (Im watching it!). Pretty damn cool actually. There is something to be said for the grace with which Joaquin (not just the actor, but the actual written character) transfers his love for Gwyneth P. to Vinessa Shaw. Somehow the movie justifies a "settling," something a love story rarely does, and surely rarely does with confidence. It doesnt hurt to have this cast and a fine soundtrack. Which brings me to the title of this post. This f***ing Moby song/video is unreal. When the song slowly creeps in as Joaquin starts licking Paltrow's neck in the club, I started paying attention (surprise!). Check it out below. I have been all morning.

Songs #27: Martin Luther Bling
Actually, it's just an old school remix of a Zapp song -- quick, cast your vote: this or Kraftwerk? -- with Ghostface throwin skillz over top with little (if nothing) changed from the first version. --RWK [via discobelle; the link is to them]

Songs #26: Hybrid Moments
Switchin it up a bit, and stealing the opportunity to share this zshare link while it's up. Plus, I watched this movie this morning when I could sleep and, while it may be a lesser work from this hilarious master, it's still pretty great--and sexy! Like, whoa. Victoria Abril is one hot lady. So much so that Antonio there tells her so right as she pulls a dress up over her ass. What I like so much about his early pictures is their energy. For all the greatness of his recent work, none can pop and sizzle like this or other from pre-Oscar sanctioning... Oh, and The Misfits. Yes, The Misfits. As I told Mark, the main association I have with Danzig is Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I didn't watch TV as a kid and I never had a Misfits phase, either, even for a second, until this past week. And, truth be told, my Misfits phase is limited to this song on repeat. --RWK

Encounter #111: Halle Berry is sexy.
The ever-creepy OG lad mag Esquire says "Sexiest", to boot. Hard to argue, really, when Halle here just had a kid and is, you know, 42 years young. This isn't even the "sexiest" picture in the set (my vote goes to the one with Burt). But it's my favorite cuz it's the least about her. It's more about that tank top. You don't get her face, you get Obama's face -- under her boobs, yes -- and even that is wrinkled by the stretch of the fabric. Everything in this image is getting pulled. You gotta love when there's at least one image forcing you to rethink how you're looking, how you're objectifying, how you're such a dumb guy all saliva and wide eyes. Or maybe that was just me and my reaction to this particular image. Also, don't get me wrong: it's still sexy. --RWK

Encounter #104: This is fandom. Or something. (Mostly? A waste of time.)
Remember when Nicole Richie was kinda fat? Yeah, I forgot about it, too. It's a laugh. She's a weirdo, all skinny now, and apparently pregnant again (because we want to turn this into a celeb gossip site, clearly), despite not looking like she can support her own weight, much less the life of yet another parasitic embryo; oops, I mean baby. In any case, through the power of internets, I found this awkward, stupid video -- from when I don't know, for what reason I don't know -- that gets cut short by Tool Type 1A just when things start to get interesting. First reaction? I dig how she just says what a lot girls (and some guys) at sporting events are thinking: these guys are primal, buff, macho meat on next to full bodily display. This isn't beach volleyball, of course, nor swimming, but there's plenty of guns (and calves? collar bones? what's the focal point?) to relish. Plus, you know, ballers are tall, with big feet. Makes sense why she'd marry (and spawn twice with) a lame white wannabe punk rock douche with no neck, right? All kinds of different ideas of funny and gross and right-on apply. --RWK

Encounter #89: What can I say? She's right.
By most accounts a stupid and hateful movie, Domino is never boring, nor as incomprehensible as its many detractors shout. Indeed, it is stupid and macho and, on the whole, too much in all the wrong places (too little elsewhere), but it's so fucking campy I couldn't resist it. On top of that, I'm getting the feeling that if Tony Scott ever gets a good screenplay like he did with the first half of Deja Vu (a closet favorite, especially those first few encounters in the little room with the big gadget), he's bound to make a film for the ages. I don't think The Taking of Pelham 123 will be that movie -- in fact, I don't think he'll ever make that movie -- but it's nice to dream some times. At night. I gave Domino 3 stars out of 5 on Netflix when it probably only deserves 2. It's my own bought and paid for rating system (thank you very much) *cough* so I'll do whatever I want. Also, I'll dream. Encounter #55: Parle à ma main. (More Yelle-ing)
Those wacky French pop stars. They're always dressing in drag and telling dudes to talk to the hand. But Yelle knows what's up: she won't give up dick: Christelle Bazooka says, "Maybe we should go homo!" and Yelle replies, "FBI: Fause Bonne Idee." That's right! Get outta here! Talk to my hand! (Yes, I know: I'm broadcasting my one-track-in-the-AM mind.) --RWK
Encounter #54: Je veux te voir. (More Yelle-ing)
You're right, girl, I do take the subway all the time. I don't want know no Hummer. And the only "video pornographique" you get to see me in, girl, is the one we make "ensemble." (Where T-Pain talks money, she talks dirty. Read along! Get big!) --RWK

Encounter #52: Her daily routine.
My friend Willie just sent me the link. I think it's best you simply watch this, without me explaining much. All you need to know is this is a short film that played at Slamdance (among other Festivals) about a 60-something grandmother who works as a sex phone operator. She has many voices, and, yes, a dirty mouth. I don't blame you for turning it off but do yourself a favor and try to stick it out. Its length works in its favor, as a matter of fact. But I'll shut up and let you WATCH. --RWK

Cuz I found out I still had these two on my hard drive. I dig the first one more but, sheeeeeit, "Take a good look" is the first line in the second one. I know: I'm predictable. Who cares? These ladies were pretty sexy once upon a time. --RWK
